Terms
Satoshi.game · last updated 19 August 2026 · this is a beta, and material changes will be announced in-game.
Satoshi.game is a free browser game made by one person. These terms are deliberately short and in plain language. By playing, you agree to them.
No real cryptocurrency
The one thing real money buys here is cosmetics — decoration for the interface, described below. They are paid for in ordinary money, never in or for any in-game currency, and they cannot be sold, traded, or converted back into anything. No purchase moves you closer to any in-game currency, and no amount of in-game currency buys a cosmetic.
Satoshi.game is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to Bitcoin, any cryptocurrency project, or any company. It is a work of fiction that borrows real history for flavour.
The game is free
Everything that affects how the game plays is free and always will be: every mechanic, every upgrade, every achievement, the whole map. There are no ads, no subscriptions, and no premium currency. A player who never spends a penny is not at a disadvantage and cannot be put at one.
The only thing sold is decoration. If anything about that ever changes it will be announced well in advance, and it will not retroactively take away something you already have.
Buying cosmetics
Cosmetics are interface themes, visual effects and small flourishes. They change how the game looks and nothing about how it behaves — no cosmetic makes anything faster, cheaper, or easier. A selection is free for everyone; the rest can be bought one at a time, or a whole collection at once.
- Buying does not unlock the achievement. Paying lifts the paywall on a cosmetic; you still have to earn the feat it belongs to before you can wear it. A collection bought early is therefore mostly a standing entitlement over cosmetics you have yet to earn.
- A collection includes everything added to it later. Buy the Extras collection today and any extras added next year are yours at no further cost. That is a commitment, not just a description of what exists right now.
- Prices exclude tax. A price shown as “$3 + VAT” means tax is added at the checkout, at the rate for wherever you are. The total you pay is shown before you confirm.
- Cosmetics are bound to your account. They are not transferable or tradable, cannot be gifted or resold, and have no cash value.
- Link an email in Settings before buying. A guest account has no recovery path, so a purchase made on one is lost along with the browser storage it lived in.
A save wipe does not take your cosmetics. Purchases live with your account rather than inside your save file, so they survive any reset the beta turns out to need — including the save-format changes described below.
Payments and refunds
Purchases are processed by Stripe, acting as merchant of record. Stripe is the seller for the transaction: it takes the payment, calculates and remits the tax, and issues your receipt. Stripe's own terms govern the payment itself and nothing here overrides them.
Cosmetics are digital content made available immediately. Where you have a statutory right to withdraw from a purchase — as consumers in the EU and UK do — that right is presented and handled at the Stripe checkout.
If a purchase is refunded, the cosmetic it paid for is removed from your account. Nothing else is affected: your save, your progress and your achievements are untouched, and an achievement you earned stays earned.
If something goes wrong with a purchase, or you bought the wrong thing, email support@satoshi.game and it will be sorted out.
Your account and your saves
Accounts are anonymous by default and created automatically. You are responsible for keeping access to yours — a guest account has no password to recover, so linking an email in Settings is the only way back in if you lose your browser storage.
This is a beta and saves are migrated best-effort. The game has carried saves forward across every format change so far, and the intent is to keep doing that. If a change ever makes a migration impossible it will be announced on Discord before it ships. You can export a backup of your save from Settings at any time, and doing so occasionally is a good idea.
No guarantee is made that any particular save, account, or amount of progress will survive. Please do not treat a save file as something valuable.
Fair use
Please don't:
- attack, overload, or attempt to break into the game's servers, or test their security without asking first
- automate mass account creation, or create accounts to abuse limits
- use the game to store or distribute anything illegal, or to harass anyone
Modifying your own single-player save is not something we will chase you for — it only affects your own game. The save-import feature in Settings exists so you can restore a backup. Saves that cannot be verified by the server are marked as such, and if competitive features such as leaderboards are ever added, they will use that mark.
Access may be suspended for anything in the list above, or for behaviour that puts the service or other players at risk.
The game is provided as-is
Satoshi.game is offered without warranty of any kind. It may contain bugs, may lose data, and may be unavailable, changed, or discontinued at any time without notice. To the fullest extent the law allows, the author is not liable for any loss arising from your use of it — including lost progress.
Nothing in these terms limits any right you have under consumer law that cannot be waived.
Source code
The source is public under the PolyForm Noncommercial 1.0.0 license: you may read, modify and share it for noncommercial purposes. Commercial use requires a separate license. The license covers the code — it is not permission to use the name Satoshi.game or to run a public copy presented as the original.
How this game is made
Most of the code behind Satoshi.game was written with an AI coding assistant. The game is not. The idea, the systems, the economy and the way it all fits together were invented by one person, and every decision about what this game should be went through them. The AI wrote code toward that direction; it did not decide what to build.
Nothing you do in the game is sent to an AI service.
Changes
These terms may change as the game does. Material changes will be announced in-game and the date at the top of this page will be updated. Continuing to play after a change means you accept it.
Privacy
What the game stores and why is covered separately in the privacy notice.
